“I’m Only Following Yoruba Culture”– Mr Joseph, Mohbad Father Finally Speaks On Why He Had To Do The Buriæl So Quick (video)

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has provided insight into the swift burial of his son.

Mohbad’s tragic passing took place on September 12th, 2023, at the age of 27, amid controversial circumstances. He was then laid to rest on September 13th, 2023.

Following Mohbad’s passing, there have been demands from certain Nigerians to exhume his body to conduct an autopsy. These requests have arisen in response to disturbing revelations of alleged abuse and harassment that he endured during his life.

Many people have expressed their strong dissatisfaction with Mohbad’s father for hastily burying his son without seeking proper evidence or conducting an autopsy, given the circumstances surrounding his death.

In a recent interview shared by journalist Temilola Sobola on her official Instagram page, Aloba cited Yoruba culture as the reason for the swift burial. He explained that it is a customary practice not to delay the burial of a deceased person when both parents are still alive in Yoruba culture.

The father also indicated that if Mohbad had passed away at an older age, the option of keeping his body in a mortuary for a later burial date might have been considered in accordance with Yoruba cultural practices.

In Yoruba land, his corpse is not the kind to be kept when both of his parents are still alive,” he said.

“That land where Mohbad was buried is his only land, that is the only land I know him to have owned. Truly he gave me the land to build my church because we had both agreed to build the church there and since that’s the only land I knew him to have.”
