UCH, Dele Odule, Sokoti Debunks Actor Olaiya Igwe Death Rumor

Actor Dele Odule, Sokoti Alagbede Orun and the management of the University College Hospital, Ibadan as debunk the death of Nigerian actor Olaiya Igwe.

Rumour went viral via social media on Monday that Igwe passed on shortly after undergoing surgery on kidney stones at the University College Hospital.

Reacting to this, his close friend and colleagues Sokoti Alagbede Orun while speaking with the BBC News said nothing is wrong with Olaiya Igwe. He said” Nothing is wrong with Olaiya Igwe, I just left his place like 5 minutes ago, he is fine and healthy, I don’t know where they heard the news of his death”.

The Public Relations Officer of UCH, Toye Akinrinola, told Oyo Reporters that he was not aware of his death.

Akinrinola said, “I am not aware of anything like that. A journalist had called me earlier on the matter. We just checked; there is no record of him at the Emergency Unit of the hospital. At least, if he died at the hospital, the Mortuary record should have revealed that to us.”

When Oyo Reporters called, veteran actor, Dele Odule, dispelled news of his death.

He said, “Rumour of his death is untrue. Olaiya is still very much alive. I spoke with him on the telephone about an hour ago and he was very much alive.”
