Nigeria Is Not Worth Dying For, MKO Abiola Died In Vain- Nollywood Actress Georgina Onuoha

Nigerian veteran actress, Georgina Onuoha has lamented about the sacrifices some great pioneers paid for the nation that has not been appreciated.
According to her, it is disheartening to know that nothing has really changed since the 90’s where MKO Abiola gave up his life for the democracy of the country. She took to her Instagram page to remember the June 12 democracy day in Nigeria.

She captioned her post as: June 12, Democracy day in Nigeria 🇳🇬. .

.
The 90’s were something else then. Boy are we even in a deeper hell now courtesy of one of the dictators in the person of Buhari.
.
Ruled by military dictators.
Coup was the deal then.
Civilians killed and brutalized .
Political instabilities.
Hunger, poverty, nepotism was the order of the day.
.
It’s even more disheartening that nothing has really changed since then.
Rather they’ve gotten worse.
SDP and NRCP were both parties advocating for democracy.
We were hopeful until the June 12 election won by MKO was nullified and anarchy became the new it.
Families killed, tribalism became it and everyone making plans to either run to their state of origin or go seek asylum in Cotonou. Yes that was an option for my family then. .

Nigeria is not worth dying for. Abiola and Babagana were a beacon of hope then in the face of brutality and dictatorship, sadly he was denied what was due him.
I pray as a nation, we begin to look inward and start demanding accountability from our rulers because we don’t have leaders.
June 12 will always be remembered.
