“There were days fans were plenty, but my pocket empty- Adekunle Gold opens up on being broke

Adekunle Gold, Nigerian Afro-pop singer has recounted some of the travails he has faced even as a star.

He wrote:

As I’ve journeyed through my growth and evolution, my friends will tell you that every dime I’ve made on this thing has gone right back into it. I’m thankful for friends and family who have even loaned me their hard earned money for the sake of my dreams.

There were days where the fans were plenty but the pocket was very empty and this wasn’t too long ago.

Man I tried so hard to push myself and my creativity, and while I know Kehinde gets it, the majority of people didn’t, and I can’t count the number of no’s I received. It’s not easy to feel neglected, undercooked, insulted, and vilified all of the time.”
Further, the father of one advised his supporters not to let anyone trick them out of a fight.

“Don’t let social foolishness accelerate your process, ma fi ago alago sise, don’t allow anyone scam you out of a struggle or a difficult experience.” Struggle, cry, and experience your agony to its depths. EXPERIENCE IT! Only then will you be able to notice when things are going well.

I still have more heights to conquer, I just started! But as usual I am thankful that I’m climbing with you. I hope that if I do fall off the ladder, you will pull me up and not tear me down further, I will definitely do the same for you”.
