“Lagos State Govt Closes Case Against Baba Ijesha

On Wednesday, the Lagos State government announced that the case against Nollywood star Olanrewaju James, nicknamed Baba Ijesha, had been closed.

Mrs. Olayinka Adeyemi, the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions, revealed this following the defense team’s cross-examination of the sixth prosecution witness.

“The prosecution has concluded its case against the defendant,” she stated.

Following the DPP’s remarks, defense lawyer Kayode Olabiran informed the court that the defendant would file a no-case submission.
The actor’s confessed statement to the police was accepted as evidence by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo.

She decided that there was no evidence in the case to show that the defendant was tortured into giving the police statement.

“Sitting on the floor does not invalidate the confessional statement,” the court added. The statement has been determined to be both relevant and admissible.

“In the new year, we’ll take the no-case submission; the court is rounding up.”
