Nigerian actress Adunni Ade has apologized for her statement that, most filmmakers in the Yoruba and English sectors pay actors lesser than they deserve.
According to Adunni Ade in a recent interview with Channels Television, most filmmakers in the Yoruba and English sectors pay actors lesser than they deserve.
Clearing the air, Adunni Ade took social media to apologize, saying that the statement was never in any way meant to shame Yoruba filmmakers but to speak up for actors who are underpaid. She said that some bloggers had changed her words to suit their narrative.

This is the question asked! My response was if greed is taken away, a lot will be better. Do not call a talent who will work tirelessly to deliver and thanks for coming would be given or no money at all. It is unfair. Some do not have the voice to respond or speak up. This is me speaking in general for both English and Yoruba Nollywood as interviewers always ask me questions pertaining to both spectrum since I work in both. That alot of Yoruba talents and English talents do not earn enough. I am aware my name has been tabled this morning and some feel I shouldn’t be featured in the Yoruba film industry. If you feel me speaking up for “others” was wrong , I apologize. If you feel speaking up for Actors (as I am one) was wrong, I apologize. If you feel speaking up to Film makers (as I am one) was wrong, I apologize.
When we earn what we deserve, a lot would be cut out I.e asking public for funds, etc. it brings so much hurt to my heart hence my response. This wasn’t me shaming Yoruba Industry. When I gave the Yoruba Film industry, directors and producers credit for sharpening me for who I am toda my on my BBC News Yoruba interview @bbcnewsyoruba , no one saw it? Let’s always get the fact of things before we go into outbursts. It can be very dangerous!
Bloggers, stop twisting or changing my words! This is why I always decline interviews! Even the visual ones, people will still manipulate what was said.
To the Film director on the platform who questioned if I have ever worked for free for me to say such, my answer is YES! Several times in my earlier years of filming and guess what? I was burnt to the core! For the record, any set you see me on best believe I got paid well enough.
