2022 PAN AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL: Adedimeji Lateef ‘AYINLA’ Wins Best Narrative Award

Veteran filmmaker, Tunde Kelani’s movie, Ayinla, has won the Best African Narrative Feature award at the 2022 Pan African Film Festival.

Kelani who announced the win in an Instagram post on Today, congratulated everyone who played a part in the movie’s success. He wrote: “Ayinla wins Programmer’s Best African Narrative Award PAFF Los Angeles 2022. Congratulations to our talents crew, executive producers, producers, and our rep team in Los Angeles and Pakistan,” he wrote. “Thanks and God’s blessings.

Tk Ayinla coming soon on NETFLIX.” The award-wininng film examined the life and times of late Apala music star, Ayinla Yusuf, better known as Ayinla Omowura.

The singer reportedly died at 47 in his hometown of Abeokuta, Ogun state, after he was badly injured during a brawl at a beer parlour.

His biopic was released on June 18 2021, by Kelani and co-produced by Jade Osiberu’s Greoh Studios. Star actor, Lateef Adedimeji, played Ayinla in the movie.

Ayinla the movie featured other prominent figures like Mr Macaroni, Omawunmi Dada, Bimbo Manuel, Bimbo Ademoye, and Ade Laoye.
